The main issue to address with this project was the drainage. There was no landscape and the yard pitched towards the residence. The project included extensive grading work, adding a basin to gather drainage. We planted lots of trees and added mounds. We used 1/4" minus decomposed granite in the areas where a future patio will go as well as the areas we wanted open for circulation. Rip rap was used in the basin where storm water will gather. The remaining planting areas received 3" minus decomposed granite for a natural look. There are plans to add additional plantings in the future. However even this simple landscape will change dramatically as the tree canopies fill the space. The trees were placed in a way to provide privacy and create shade for the backyard and residence.
